R.E.A.D. (Read, Enjoy, Analyze, Discuss) for NĒNĒ is an enrichment activity designed
to promote reading and discussion of literature suitable for grades 4 to 6.
Participating students are encouraged to read the books and discuss them with
other students and classes from across the state, and then vote for their favorite.
Books featured are taken from the
Nēnē Award Recommended Reading List. The annual Nēnē Award
is supported by the
Hawai'i State Department of Education and the
Hawai'i State Public Library System (HSPLS).
The Award is given each year in Hawai'i, and voting for it generally takes place
in February; the ceremony is being planned for Thursday, April 29, 2010.

You’re invited to compete via videoconferencing in the Nēnē Jeopardy-Style Competition! RSVP by Thursday, November 19 to competition coordinator Denise Sumida- denise_sumida@notes.k12.hi.us -with one of these dates --12/8/09, 1/26/10, or 2/11/10.Nēnē Jeopardy needs 3 school teams: two to compete and one to moderate the game.

There will be another Jeopardy competition on Tuesday November 17! The competitors are Maemae vs. Pearl Harbor students from 12-12:45 p.m. Michelle at Halekula will be facilitating.
